The College Football Playoff field is now set. Michigan, Washington, Texas and Alabama will compete for the 2023 national championship.

The 2023 season is the final year of the 4-team Playoff and featured the most intense debate surrounding the 4 spots. Michigan and Washington were locks to make it after going undefeated and winning their conference championship games.

Three other conference champions were competing for the final 2 spots. Alabama boasted the biggest win of the season after taking down a top-ranked Georgia team. Texas, though, held a head-to-head tiebreaker over Alabama. Florida State, meanwhile, is an undefeated Power 5 conference champion, albeit without its star quarterback.

There was also some talk of 12-1 Georgia, No. 1 in polls for much of the season, making the final 4. There were arguments made that UGA did not deserve to fall more than 3 spots from No. 1 after losing to Alabama. The Dawgs notched a 29-game winning streak during their dominating run.

The sixth and final CFP selection committee rankings of the 2023 season were unveiled Sunday live on ESPN. The top 6 teams were the first revealed. Unlike the AP Top 25 and the Coaches Poll, the committee does not rank teams following bowl games.
