College GameDay is headed to Columbia in Week 3.

The traveling pregame show announced Saturday night it will broadcast live from South Carolina next weekend when the Gamecocks (2-0) host No. 18 LSU (1-1). The Gamecocks blasted Kentucky on Saturday, 31-6, for their first conference win of the new year. LSU rolled Nicholls in its home opener, 44-21.

The trip will mark the first time South Carolina has hosted GameDay in a decade.

South Carolina was featured on the traveling pregame show from ESPN in the opening weekend of the 2023 season — a 31-17 loss to North Carolina in Charlotte. That was the first appearance on the show since Sept. 27, 2014.

That season, the 13th-ranked Gamecocks hosted GameDay for a game against Missouri. The Tigers won that one 21-20.

South Carolina has hosted the show 7 previous times. The Gamecocks are 3-6 when featured on the show.

Kentucky had just 183 yards of total offense in Saturday’s contest. The Wildcats had only 44 yards through the air as starting quarterback Brock Vandagriff struggled heavily, completing 3 of his 10 passes for 30 yards. South Carolina picked off both Vandagriff and Gavin Wimsatt, recorded 11 tackles for loss, and got in for 5 sacks.

“There was a perception out there about our team this week, but it wasn’t reality,” coach Shane Beamer said after the game. “We knew what kind of team we had. There were some lazy narratives out there this week about this team. We’ve got a bunch of tough, gritty, young men, starting with our quarterback.”

Now, Beamer will have the perfect stage to show where his program is.
