The MEAC-SWAC Challenge is one of the big games of Week 0 this weekend, and ESPN’s “College GameDay” is there to highlight the matchup from Atlanta.

But the popular pregame show will have a special guest this week in Jackson State coach Deion Sanders, better known recently as Coach Prime. Alcorn State and N.C. Central will be the featured matchup.

“That’s a wonderful opportunity to talk further about HBCU football,” Sanders said. “That’s a wonderful platform as well, and a marketing tool to say the least. But I just love the game. I love the game. I love these kids, I love the parents, I love the alumni, the fans, I love the atmosphere. I love professional football because that’s my first love. But college football, man, there’s something about the purity of college football that does something for me. And now to be able to participate after the spring, after the pandemic … fall camp, summer camp, it is time to finally get it on. We read, baby, c’mon let’s do this.”

Sanders has all the potential to measure up to some of the best guests GameDay has had over the years.
