College GameDay at Appalachian State and the surrounding Boone, North Carolina area is in a frenzy ahead of ESPN’s popular pregame show airing from the scenic site on Saturday morning.

Pete Thamel of ESPN reported that there are “no posters left in Boone for signs” ahead of the broadcast, and that students are asking ESPN staff for posters to bring to the set. One of the motivations for students is the best sign will win the student free tuition and fees for a school year.

Signs have long been a staple of College GameDay, and it’s one of the main things that have separated the show from other pregame shows. Many of them are funny, some are inappropriate and the ESPN broadcast team weekly points out some of the best posters.

Kirk Herbstreit earlier promoted the event: “It’s about celebrating teams like Appalachian State,” he said. “So we’re going to have a lot of fun, 3 hours, College GameDay. I can’t even imagine, sea of humanity.
