Kirk Herbstreit and ESPN’s “College GameDay” are in Boone, North Carolina at Appalachian State for the popular pregame show to broadcast from the scenic views of the campus featuring the upset-hungry Mountaineers.

Herbstreit offered a preview on Friday afternoon.

The broadcast will be from Sanford Mall, and Herbstreit said, “We expect one of the greatest scenes for College GameDay, maybe ever. These shows where you’re off the beaten path, JMU, North Dakota State, they’re memorable. We are excited for this trip, to celebrate this program, who just beat Texas A&M. They scored 40 points in a fourth quarter against North Carolina in a narrow defeat.”

Herbstreit also wants to celebrate the sport beyond the usual heavyweights of Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson and Georgia.

“It’s about celebrating teams like Appalachian State,” he said. “So we’re going to have a lot of fun, 3 hours, College GameDay. I can’t even imagine, sea of humanity, take it in now, you see a little bit of grass there.”

Herbstreit also pointed to a wild scene of people hanging off a parking garage.

Herbstreit will have a SportsCenter hit at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday before GameDay begins at 9 a.m.
