We are living in uncertain times at the moment but that doesn’t mean we won’t get through it.

Once we eventually move on from the coronavirus outbreak, what can be done to bring a sense of normalcy back to college sports?

Many have proposed that allowing student-athletes affected by the cancelations another year of eligibility seems like an appropriate step. Count ESPN college basketball analyst Jay Bilas among the list of people that agree with that sentiment.

During a recent appearance on ESPN morning show “Get Up,” Bilas was asked if that’s something the NCAA should consider for all sports affected by Thursday’s cancelations.

“I think that would be entirely appropriate and it’s certainly within the ability of the NCAA to get done,” Bilas answered. “We talk all the time about athlete welfare, and this is something that the NCAA could certainly do with relative ease and I think should do. And it would be a wonder for anyone that wants to come back next year and compete. What would be wrong with that? To have a person in school for another year. Who would be hurt by that? I think it would be a wonderful gesture, and something that would certainly make everybody feel better after something that’s been an extraordinarily difficult time.”
