Hurricane Florence continues to make an impact on this weekend’s college football schedule.

On Tuesday, ECU announced that its road matchup against Virginia Tech has been cancelled. The two schools were supposed to play on Saturday. The Pirates stated in a press release that the hope is the game can be made up later this season.

Virginia is expected to have serious impending weather caused by Hurricane Florence this weekend. Earlier on Tuesday, Ohio-Virginia was moved to Vanderbilt Stadium in Nashville.

In its press release, ECU stated that all of its athletics teams are “prohibited from traveling for competition purposes this weekend.” This is expected to help keep the student-athletes safe during the hurricane.

All of ECU’s athletics events have been cancelled (home or road) through Sunday.

Virginia Tech leads the all-time series against ECU, 15-7, which includes wins each of the past two years.
