Tennessee State’s hiring of Eddie George as the program’s new head coach raised eyebrows due to George’s lack of coaching experience. The Ohio State and Tennessee Titan legend is reportedly looking to make up for that by bringing in a high-profile staff.

John Brice of FootballScoop reports that former Titans head coach Jeff Fisher is serving in an advisory role to help George fill out his staff.

George is reportedly targeting former NFL head coach Hue Jackson as his offensive coordinator.

George is working to finalize Brandon Fisher, Jeff Fisher’s son, as his defensive coordinator. The younger Fisher was most recently on Gus Malzahn’s Auburn staff as a defensive analyst working under Kevin Steele. Brandon Fisher also has NFL experience working on his dad’s Titans and Rams staffs.

The FootballScoop article mentioned another big name with an NFL past:

Per sources with direct knowledge of TSU’s plans, George & Co. also are targeting a former NFL star and Pro Football Hall of Famer for a key spot on their defensive staff.

Sources in Nashville told FootballScoop in recent weeks that TSU zeroed its search to lead the program in a new direction on George and another former NFL great: ex-Ravens linebacker and Hall of Famer Ray Lewis.

It sure looks like the TSU staff will have some star power.
