In a rare meeting where both programs are unranked, the LSU Tigers (2-2) will travel to Jordan-Hare Stadium to battle the Auburn Tigers (3-2) on Saturday.

With both schools returning to the win column on October 24, ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) released their updated projections for the contest on Sunday, giving Ed Orgeron’s Tigers a 52.1 percent chance to prevail victorious.

As a quick reminder, here is how FPI is calculated.

“The Football Power Index is a measure of team strength meant to be the best predictor of a team’s performance going forward.

“FPI represents how many points above or below average a team is. Projected results are based on 20,000 simulations of the rest of the season using FPI, results to date, and the remaining schedule.

“Ratings and projections update daily. FPI data from seasons prior to 2019 may not be complete.”

The FPI likes LSU to win four of their final six games, falling only to the No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide on November 14 and the No. 10 Florida Gators in Gainesville on December 12.

Saturday’s action in Auburn will kick at 3:30 p.m. ET on the SEC on CBS with Brad Nessler, Gary Danielson, and Jamie Erdahl on the call.
