College football’s Week 9 is in the books. Now, we only have one month remaining in the season, and it’ll be over before we know it.

Six SEC teams are ranked in this week’s ESPN Football Power Index Top 25, including four of the top eight teams. Ironically, Florida isn’t one of those. The FPI has the Gators ranked outside the top 10.

Meanwhile, it also lacks respect for LSU, as the Tigers have the best resume in college football. It ranks LSU behind Ohio State, Alabama and Clemson. We have a feeling the College Football Playoff rankings will have the Tigers higher. They CFP rankings will be revealed on November 5.

ESPN describes its FPI as follows:

The Football Power Index (FPI) is a measure of team strength that is meant to be the best predictor of a team’s performance going forward for the rest of the season. FPI represents how many points above or below average a team is. Projected results are based on 10,000 simulations of the rest of the season using FPI, results to date, and the remaining schedule. Ratings and projections update daily.
