Set to take place at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia on Saturday, the No. 2 LSU Tigers and No. 4 Georgia Bulldogs will square off in the SEC Championship Game.

Posting a combined record of 23-1, the lone hiccup between these two was Georgia’s stumbling home performance against the South Carolina Gamecocks on October 12.

The West division champions, LSU put the finishing touches on a flawless regular season by routing the Texas A&M Aggies, 50-7, in Baton Rouge on November 30. Adding another sparkling performance to his Heisman Trophy resume, redshirt senior quarterback Joe Burrow completed 23-32 passes for 352 yards and three scores.

In his second season with Ed Orgeron’s program after graduate transferring from No. 1 Ohio State, Burrow has rewritten the Tigers’ single-season record books with 4,366 yards and 44 touchdown tosses.

With Georgia needing this victory to stay in the College Football Playoff picture, Saturday’s action is likely to be an instant classic. Taking a shot at predicting the outcome, ESPN’s Football Power Index gives LSU a 55.7% chance to head home from the Peach State with the win.

Here’s a brief refresher on how FPI works:

The Football Power Index (FPI) is a measure of team strength meant to be the best predictor of a team’s success moving forward. FPI represents how many points above or below-average a team is. Projected results are based on 10,000 simulations of the rest of the season using FPI, results to date and the remaining schedule. Projections and results update daily.

The 28th edition of the SEC Championship Game, Saturday’s action from Atlanta will kick at 4:00PM ET on CBS with Brad Nessler, Gary Danielson and Jamie Erdahl on the call.
