A popular duo at ESPN has landed their long-coveted bowl game assignment.

Marty Smith and Ryan McGee, who host “Marty and McGee” on the SEC Network on Wednesday evenings during the football season, and a similar program on ESPN Radio on Saturday mornings, will call the inaugural Myrtle Beach Bowl, according to Barrett Sports Media.

The game is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 21 at 2:30pm ET on ESPN, and the game will be between the Appalachian State Mountaineers and North Texas Mean Green.

Smith and McGee have long lobbied to call the game, and have a sort of kindred spirit with Grand Strand area around Myrtle Beach. They enjoy promoting Coastal Carolina, and even before the Chanticleers gained national attention with a win over BYU, they adopted the team as the official team of the show.

They also enjoy calling Coastal LB Teddy Gallagher the “Chanticleer Chandelier” for his blonde mullet.
