ESPN has recently updated its preseason Football Power Index for the 2018 season and based on their metrics, the league is basically a three-team race with the potential for a few dark horses to emerge.

According to ESPN’s updated FPI, the SEC championship will once again come down to Alabama, Auburn or Georgia. The metrics also give Florida, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, and South Carolina 1% or greater chance to win the league title in Atlanta.

Here’s how ESPN’s FPI is determined:

The Football Power Index (FPI) is a measure of team strength that is meant to be the best predictor of a team’s performance going forward for the rest of the season. FPI represents how many points above or below average a team is. Projected results are based on 10,000 simulations of the rest of the season using FPI, results to date, and the remaining schedule. Ratings and projections update daily.

We’ve taken the liberty of rounding up the data for each SEC program into this table. Do you agree with their results?
