This accusation is a common byproduct of war in the SEC, though what happens between those lines is rarely discussed post-game.

Following LSU’s win over Florida on Saturday, Tigers running back Leonard Fournette revealed that he was poked in the eye intentionally by a Gators defender and wasn’t happy as a result.

“There’s a lot going on under the pile, grabbing and pulling and it kind of made me upset,” Fournette said. “I just had to put the team on my back to be able to perform. You can’t really tell who it is since there’s six people on top of you. (The) only thing you see is hands.”

Fournette, who rushed for 180 yards and two touchdowns, has a league-leaguing 1,202 yards and 14 scores this season. He called Florida’s defense the most physical — and athletic — that he’s faced this year.

LSU is the SEC’s lone remaining unbeaten.

“Coach (Les) Miles said to get ready for a street fight,” Fournette said. “We were going pound for pound each and every play. Those guys on Florida have a great defense, very active and flying to the ball.
