Former NBA No. 1 overall draft pick to be on ESPN's College GameDay
ESPN in recent years has pulled in celebrity guests during its popular Saturday morning pregame show, “College GameDay,” and they typically have a local connection to the site the traveling show airs from each week.
This week it’s former No. 1 overall draft pick Bill Walton, who is known recently for being a commentator on ESPN. Ben Bolch of the L.A. Times reported that Walton will be on the show on Saturday as it’s televised from Southern California ahead of the Oregon-UCLA game.
Walton, known for his off-the-wall reactions, stories and descriptions during games, is a Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer and a former NBA MVP and one of only 4 players in the history of basketball to have won multiple NCAA and NBA Championships.
He returned to ESPN in 2012 as a college basketball analyst for Pac-12 games. He originally joined ESPN in 2002 as a lead analyst for ESPN and ABC’s NBA coverage, according to his ESPN bio.
