The BCS is gone but not forgotten. BCSKnowHow.com has been releasing simulated BCS rankings each week to show what the old computer model would be putting out if it hadn’t been replaced by the College Football Playoff.

We have a new set ahead of Tuesday night’s CFP rankings reveal.

Georgia, as it has done in every poll this week, takes the No. 1 spot. The Bulldogs are unbeaten on the year (9-0) and 7-0 in SEC play. Alabama takes the No. 2 spot. The Tide held at No. 3 in the AP Top 25 this week but rose from No. 3 to No. 2 in the AFCA Coaches Poll.

The big question as fans await a new set of CFP rankings is whether the Tide will be docked for a less-than-impressive 20-14 win over LSU last weekend. Alabama opened the CFP rankings last week at No. 2, but considering the No. 3 team (Michigan State) lost to Purdue and Nos. 4, 5, and 6 all played tight contests against unranked opponents, perhaps the Tide stay pat.

The separation between Nos. 2, 3, and 4 in the simulated BCS model is minuscule. Cincinnati and Oklahoma sit in 3rd and 4th spots. The Bearcats were No. 4 in the model a week ago.

Michigan State is the big mover in the top 10, dropping from No. 5 a week ago to No. 8 today. The Spartans, on the heels of a massive win over in-state rival Michigan on Oct. 30, followed things up with a 40-29 loss to Purdue that dropped them to 8-1 on the year. They fell from No. 5 to No. 8 in the new AP Poll and from No. 6 to No. 9 in the Coaches Poll.

Ohio State (No. 5), Notre Dame (No. 6), Michigan (No. 7), Oregon (No. 9), and Oklahoma State (No. 10) round out the simulated BCS top 10.
