Iron Bowl draws highest rating of any college football game in 2017
The Iron Bowl on Saturday was one of the best college football games of the year, with No. 6 Auburn eventually pulling off the upset against No. 1 Alabama.
Plenty of viewers were tuned in to see the Tigers’ 26-14 victory, as the game drew huge ratings.
According to Richard Deitsch, the game got a 7.8 overnight rating, making it the most-watched game on any network this season:
Some mega college football ratings yesterday:
Auburn-Alabama: 7.8 overnight (highest overnight rating on any network for 2017 CFB season)
Ohio State-Michigan: 6.7 (best-ever metered market rating for a regular-season CFB game on Fox)— Richard Deitsch (@richarddeitsch) November 26, 2017
The Ohio State-Michigan numbers are also solid, but the Iron Bowl blew even those out of the water, and rightfully so, as both teams had (and still have) College Football Playoff hopes.
Auburn faces another CFP elimination game on Saturday in the SEC Championship Game. The Tigers will take on a Georgia team they defeated 40-17 a couple of weeks ago.
That game, like Saturday’s Iron Bowl, is sure to be a huge one, and it’s likely viewers will once again tune in to see all the title action.
