Jalen Hurts was recently fined by the NFL for wearing a pair of mis-matched cleats that did not follow along with the league’s uniform guidelines.
So, in what may be a statement addressing the $5,628 fine that was issued to him, Hurts sported a two-toned suit during his walk into Northwest Stadium on Sunday before a matchup with the Washington Commanders.
Against the Steelers last week, Hurts’ game shoes reportedly did not come into his possession in time for the matchup, and thus he rocked a pair of Jordan cleats that featured one Kelly Green shoe and one Midnight Green shoe.
As a Jordan Brand athlete, Hurts has been known to sport specially issued cleats of varying colorways. But, the NFL’s rules state that “A player may wear shoes that are black, white, or any Constitutional team color, or any combination of black, white, and a Constitutional team color.”
Thus, the Kelly Green was not officially acknowledged as a team color, and Hurts was fined.
Nike and Jordan did agree to pay the fine on Hurts’ behalf.
It remains to be seen if the league will fine Hurts for wearing a two-colored suit, as that would also fall in line with its ever-expanding efforts to live up to its reputation as the “No Fun League.”
