On the eve of the Super Bowl, a Las Vegas sportsbook has released updated odds for next season’s college football national championship.

Circa Sports put out its 2021-22 national championship odds and five SEC teams are among the top nine teams from across the country. Alabama leads the way at +198, followed by Clemson, Ohio State, Georgia and Oklahoma to round out the top five.

The odds grow significantly after the top five as Texas A&M at No. 6 is listed at +2600, while LSU (tied with Iowa State) and Florida are at No. 8 and No. 9 with +4300 and +4700.

The last team to win back-to-back championships was Alabama in the 2011 and 2012 seasons.

With a new quarterback, re-tooled coaching staff and plenty of new faces in key roles around the field, this listing speaks to the respect the Las Vegas oddsmakers have for coach Nick Saban’s program.

Georgia has a slew of returning starters, most notably QB JT Daniels, and is seen by a growing number of college football observers to be one of the two best teams in the SEC entering the 2021 season.

Those top five teams are also the most common teams mentioned to be in the mix to make the College Football Playoff next season. The national championship is set for Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
