Brittany Wagner, best known for her appearances on the Netflix documentary series “Last Chance U,” has accepted a new position. Wagner has been hired as a special academic consultant at Madison Heights Madison High School in Madison Heights, Michigan according to James Hawkins of The Detroit News.

Wagner comes from East Mississippi Community College in Scooba, Miss. EMCC is considered one of the top JUCO programs in America.

The superintendent of Madison District Public Schools, Randy Speck, sees similarities between Wagner’s last school and M.H. Madison High:

“Last winter when I watched the first season I really just started to see that a lot of the kids from East Mississippi Community College, a lot of them have similar backgrounds to a lot of our kids.”

“Our kids are coming from Detroit, Madison Heights, Hazel Park, Warren and some of our kids are going through some different challenges and obstacles…One of the things that spoke to me was (Wagner’s) background isn’t necessarily the same as these kids, but she found a way to connect with them and it’s because she cares and genuinely and authentically wants to see them do well.”

“Last Chance U” gained a strong following among NCAA football fans after its release. The show did so well with the first season that a second season has been released.

So far four players that have appeared on “Last Chance U” have transferred to the SEC, the most notable being QB John Franklin III. Franklin saw limited time in 2016 but notched three TD’s for the Auburn Tigers. The upcoming season is set for a new location and will feature Arkansas commit Emmit Gooden of Independence Community College.
