Texas A&M and Alabama legend Gene Stallings is hoping to be in attendance when the two schools square off Saturday.

It would be quite remarkable if Stallings is in fact healthy enough to attend. He suffered a heart attack last week. It does appear that the worst may be over for Stallings.

Rick Karle recently interviewed Stallings, and Stallings claims he feels fine and is doing well. It would be a special appearance if he can in fact make the game as A&M has announced plans to honor the Aggie legend on Saturday.

Karle shared Stallings’ update on his health on Twitter:

Stallings played with A&M from 1954-1956. He got his coaching start with Alabama and Bear Bryant from 1958-1964 before serving as head coach with A&M from 1965-1971 and Alabama’s head coach from 1990-1996.

Stallings led Alabama to the 1992 National Championship and is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame.
