When the LSU Tigers and Florida Gators were supposed to meet last season for their annual SEC East-West crossover game, Hurricane Matthew had other plans.

The game was rescheduled, but not without a fair share of drama from both sides.

One of the reasons the Tigers didn’t want to reschedule for the two teams’ mutual bye week was because LSU had to face Alabama the next weekend and wanted to be well-rested for that contest.

However, on ESPNU Radio on SiriusXM on Wednesday, Spurrier pointed out that LSU’s bye week didn’t exactly work, as the Crimson Tide earned a 10-0 win in Death Valley:

“LSU wanted an open date last year before they were going to kick Alabama’s tail, but that didn’t work out for them,” Spurrier said. “They didn’t want to do it, so the Gators went out there and won a hard-fought ballgame 16-10.”

It’s safe to say that both sides are still bitter about last year, so the game this weekend (Florida’s homecoming, it should be mentioned) should be a hotly contested one.
