Lucky Liberty! Hugh Freeze's Flames stun Virginia Tech with insane final 15 seconds
Hugh Freeze’s Liberty Flames are now an incredible 7-0 and just took down Virginia Tech in Blacksburg.
However, it’s the way the Flames won that is truly incredible. With the score tied at 35-35, the Liberty kicker attempted a 59-yard field goal.
The field goal was blocked and returned for a Virginia Tech touchdown with under 10 seconds remaining. Game over, right? Wrong. Before this wild play, Virginia Tech had called a timeout:
Virginia Tech called a TO right before they returned a blocked FG to win the game.
Liberty (+500 ML) would go on to make the field goal and win the game 38-35. @betthepigskin

So, time for a Hail Mary, right? Well, Virginia Tech didn’t cover a Liberty receiver, so the Flames completed a quick pass to set up a 51-yard field goal attempt.
Of course, the Liberty kicker absolutely nailed that kick:
An ALL TIME @OldTakesExposed just happened.
Ticker of the Liberty-Virginia Tech game shows that VT won 41-35 off a blocked field goal.
HOWEVER, VT called a time out, and Liberty kicked the game winner with the ticker showing VT winning.

That led to a hilarious moment where Liberty players were celebrating their win while the ACC Network ticker at the bottom of the screen showed that Virginia Tech had won the game:

Wow. Hugh Freeze magic. He seems to be positioning himself to get a Power 5 gig in 2021. For now, though, he’s clearly enjoying the ride at Liberty.
