Tonight’s National Championship Game will be Alabama’s 10th bowl game since Nick Saban took over as coach.

Alabama is 6-3 — including this season’s Cotton Bowl victory over Michigan State — in those games, including three triumphs that produced national championships for the Crimson Tide.

Here’s a brief review of Alabama’s bowl history under Saban (year listed is for regular season):

2007 Independence Bowl: Alabama 30, Colorado 24: John Parker Wilson threw three touchdown passes and Leigh Tiffin kicked three field goals to lift the Crimson Tide in a matchup of 6-6 teams.

2008 Sugar Bowl: Utah 31, Alabama 17. The Utes raced out to a 21-0 first-quarter lead and held on for the victory. Javier Arenas’ 73-yard punt return and a 4-yard pass from John Parker Wilson to Glen Coffee pulled the Tide within 21-17 early in the second half, but Tide got no closer. Utah finished as the nation’s only unbeaten team.

2009 National Championship Game: Alabama 37, Texas 21: The Tide finished unbeaten and claimed the national title while playing the nation’s toughest schedule. Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson each scored two TDs and Marcell Dareus knocked Texas QB Colt McCoy out of the game and later returned an intercepted shovel pass 28 yards for a TD. The game was played at the Rose Bowl.

2010 Capital One Bowl: Alabama 49, Michigan State 7: Mark Ingram and Eddie Lacy scored two TDs each for the Tide, which finished 10-3.

2011 National Championship Game: Alabama 21, LSU 0: The Tide avenged a 9-6 loss to the Tigers in the regular season with a victory in New Orleans in a rematch for the national title. Jeremy Shelley kicked five field goals for Alabama, which held LSU to 92 yards total offense. Trent Richardson scored the only TD in the fourth quarter.

2012 National Championship Game: Alabama 42, Notre Dame 14: The Tide routed the overmatched Irish, rolling out to a 28-0 halftime lead. Eddie Lacy and Amari Cooper scored two TDs each for the Tide. ESPN announcer Brent Musburger caused a stir with his infatuation with Katherine Webb, the girlfriend of Alabama QB AJ McCarron.

2013 Sugar Bowl: Oklahoma 45, Alabama 31: The Sooners scored 17 straight points in the second quarter to take control. Derrick Henry’s second TD on a 61-yard pass pulled the Tide within 38-31 with more than 6 minutes left. But the Sooners scored the clincher on a sack and fumble recovery with 47 seconds to play.

2014 Sugar Bowl: Ohio State 42, Alabama 35: The Tide lost their second straight Sugar Bowl in a semifinal of the first College Football Playoff.  The Buckeyes came roaring back from a 21-6 deficit to cut the lead to 21-20 at halftime. Ohio State quickly took control in the third quarter with a pair of TDs, the second on a 41-yard interception return. Alabama crept to within 34-28 before Ezekiel Elliott’s 85-yard TD run clinched the Buckeyes victory.

2015 Cotton Bowl: Alabama 38, Michigan State 0: Jacob Coker completed 25 of 30 passes for 286 yards and two TDs to lead the Crimson Tide.
