Opening odds for next NY Giants coach have some interesting names, including Nick Saban
Just when you thought the #Grumors were over, the NFL coaching carousel is just getting started. The New York Giants fired coach Ben McAdoo on Monday after a loss to the Oakland Raiders.
Now, they’re on the hunt for a new coach, and the opening odds provided by Bookmaker.eu lists some unusual names for the opening.
As you can see below, former Atlanta Falcons coach Mike Smith is the favorite to land the position with +350 odds. However, further down on the list are names like Jon Gruden (+2,500) and, even more surprisingly, Alabama coach Nick Saban (+8,000):
- Mike Smith +350
- Josh McDaniels +400
- Frank Reich +550
- Teryl Austin +550
- Matt Patricia +1200
- Dave Toub +1500
- Scott Linehan +1500
- Jim Harbaugh +1800
- Jim Schwartz +2000
- Pat Shurmur +2200
- Brian Kelly +2300
- Jon Gruden +2500
- Bill Cowher +6000
- David Shaw +6000
- Nick Saban +8000
- Field +250
Some odds that aren’t on the list, but probably should be, are whether the Giants will have a new coach before Tennessee.
It’ll be interesting to see who the Giants go with to replace McAdoo, but considering how Saban’s first stint in the NFL went, don’t expect him to make the jump back to the pros anytime soon.
