Paul Finebaum has covered the SEC for a long time. He’s seen a lot of games in that span.

But Saturday night’s epic showdown between No. 4 Alabama and No. 2 Georgia was the best of the bunch.

On ESPN’s SportsCenter on Sunday morning, Finebaum waxed poetic about the Crimson Tide’s 41-34 victory over the Bulldogs:

“I’ve covered the SEC for more than 40 years. You can see that on my face right here,” Finebaum said. “But I believe that’s the best college football game in the SEC that I have seen during all those years. I know we often get hung up on being prisoners of the moment, but that isn’t an exaggeration to say in this case.

“You saw the lead, you saw the comeback, you saw the ending. It had everything you could have, including the fact that we have one of the best rivalries in the SEC, two of the best teams in the country who may or may not play again. It had absolutely everything.

“Nobody left anything on the field. They put it all out there. And if you ask who was the better team, the better team won. But the next time could be different.”
