Committee got it right. Georgia has 2 wins against ranked teams, Alabama has 0. Georgia’s defense also has pitched 3 shutouts out this year and only giving up 9 points a game. Now chances are Georgia will lose at Auburn this weekend and possibly Auburn could beat Bama so it all will change. Minnesota isn’t that good, just cause they have one ranked win against Penn State, which they barely won. They still have Iowa, Wisconsin and Ohio State potentially. Chances are they will lose two of those. Big 12 is in trouble.
But where will your anchor be?
Not attached to Derek Mason.
Out of curiosity, what makes you say “chances are Georgia will lose at Auburn”? Is it purely because it is at Jordan Hare? Or UGA’s stale offense or what? Cause so far GA has beaten Florida, who beat Auburn. I’m just wondering what precisely makes you think the Dawgs will lose. Not saying you’re wrong, just wondering is all!
It will be low scoring and an offensive struggle. Both defenses are elite and both offenses are vanilla. Jordan Hare and Sanford are both hostile environments, you have to give the edge to home field advantage.
I would say its a “50-50” chance you would know anything about home-field advantage…
You’re right I wouldn’t. Auburn will beat either Georgia or Alabama, I don’t think both.
Georgia has lost it’s offensive line, and they are not ready for Derek Brown, Marlin Davidson, Big Cat Bryant and Nick Coe, three are projected to go in the first three rounds, Derek Brown supposed top 10 pick.
God, will you STOP rubbing it in. I’m sweating already with the thought of that moron Coley thinking any team can run between the guards on that.
Georgia lost its OL??
I think most people here are assuming Hill and Mays are still injured. I know they’re practicing, and I hope they’re at 100%.
Bamatime Steamin’ rn…
Is he, really tho? Is any Alabama fan steaming? They hardly paid for that loss at home and not having any quality wins, and yet right now they’re the best non playoff team in the country. This sets up perfectly for them to do the exact same BS they got gifted in 2011 and 2017.
When isnt bamatime mad tho?
You sound like your steaming right now about Alabama getting in when they clearly were the top team in 2011/2017. Salty much?
I’m fine with Bama being #5. When Georgia loses to Auburn and to LSU in SECCG we will fit right in with the rematch to LSU
Even if Georgia were to lose to Auburn and/or LSU, Bama fans should probably be more concerned with Oregon sitting right behind them ready to jump then after the PAC12 championship game against a ranked Utah while Bama is sitting at home that weekend
Bama needs to win out and a two loss conference champion to have a shot at getting in..
Wow! The committee respects Mizzou so much that if you shut us out you deserve to be in the CFP.
yall are Gods what else is there to debate????
Hey how did you like that tough SC team?
just as much as you like d*ck in yo a*s…
Jedi mind trick placing Dogs in at 4. It means nothing unless they make and win SEC ship.
^^ Truth. Gotta win out or it doesn’t matter where UGA is ranked today.
I personally don’t think we deserve this ranking. If we win out? Absolutely. Right now based on how we have played regardless of wins against ranked teams I’d say we are 5th.
I don’t disagree. You guys don’t look as sexy as the other top four teams. But who else do you put in at #4? When answering try and not insert your PTSD of the past ten years of Alabama owning you. What really have they done this year that’s more deserving than Minnesota?
I guess it comes down to why were the ranked Teams we played ranked in the top 10? Why is the ranking system the way it is? Why can’t the playoff ranking come in at the end Of the season? (I’m starting to sound cynical here) as far as Minnesota, I have no understanding of this football team but beating Penn state is pretty cool so why not put them in?
I agree. I think the issue of Alabama comes down to the fact that it’s Alabama. In our minds we can’t help but remember how good they’ve been over the past decade, how they’ve owned college football and how they have the greatest coach of our generation. I think all of that bias makes us assume they deserve to be in the top four. They beat a crappy ATM team by 19. Big deal. That’s their entire resume at this point yet everyone still thinks Alabama is deserving…why?
Georgia ain’t going to lose to auburn. I hope auburn wins but ain’t going to happen auburn will lose to Alabama too.
Nah…Gus wants an extra 2 years added to his contract and a hot tub in his office. He’ll get that after beating UGA and then he’ll tank.
Judging on what I’ve seen this season so far, I expect GA and Bama to win out in regular season. I also expect GA to lose to LSU. This will drop GA down to around 7 while Bama hangs in there at 5 or possibly 6 depending on the outcome of Oregon / Utah. If FL wins out, including their bowl game, they will be in the top 10 like last year. Throw everything into chaos if OSU loses.
It’ll be a close game. It’s hard to beat Georgia’s defense, but they are without their offensive line and Auburn’s D-line is top notch, and Auburns rush defense (remember Georgia’s offense is primarily based around the running game, not as much this year than in the past but still heavily based) is one of the best in the country. Very low scoring game, Auburn will absolutely have to get the ground game going and hopefully Nix will get hot like he has in most home games this season, excited to watch this one.
Also, if Georgia beats Auburn, they go to the playoff, if they can keep in close with LSU, if they lose to Auburn, then Oregon will probably go.
Also remember that Auburn held LSU to 23 points.
A Georgia team with 2 losses, one against USC and one against LSU, will not get in the playoff over a) a 1 loss Pac 12 champ, b) a 1 loss Big 12 champ, or c) a 1 loss Alabama sitting at home enjoying a bye week and one top 25 win all season.
2 if those linemen are practicing so our oline is just fine
Hey it aint gonna be a blowout
Looks like both Georgia and Alabama are being set up. Alabama gets jumped by 1-loss Pac-12 champ. Georgia loses SECCG. We get 4 conference champions in playoffs.
Uga won’t lose another game until maybe the playoffs. Im not worried about Aub or A&M
Yup, right now I have the final four teams as:
1.LSU
2. Ohio State
3. Clemson
4. Oregon
Unless something wild happens, those top three should remain the same until the end of the season. If Oregon and Oklahoma run the table and win their conference titles, I’d put Oregon in over Oklahoma since Oregon clearly would have the better loss out of the two. Those four teams would make for an exciting playoff scenario!
Who has Oregon beat that gives them a quality win?
That loss to Auburn doesn’t hurt them that much. First game of the year at a neutral site, and lost in the last 7 seconds. They will have run the table in the PAC12 and have a top 10 win. Not exactly LSU’s SOS, but not still strong enough for the playoff.
*but still
Every game Auburn losses makes that Oregon loss look worse..
Weagle, those are fair points. But as of now, Oregon doesn’t have a quality win to put them in the top 4.
