Welcome to the party, Jalen Milroe.

At the “List,” we should say, “Welcome Back.” We had Milroe in the top 3 after a week of college football. He had a bad game against Texas, was benched the next week, and has been on the road back ever since. Much like Alabama, come to think of it. Milroe’s performance against LSU was a 374-yard (219 passing, 155 rushing), 4-touchdown masterpiece that not only gets him back on “The List,” but gets Alabama firmly back in the national championship picture.

Like Alabama, Georgia is used to being in the national championship picture. The Dawgs’ home win over Missouri was their most impressive of the season, a complete win over a great football team. Georgia sealed the 30-21 win with defense, but it was Carson Beck who shined throughout, outplaying Missouri’s Brady Cook and tossing 2 touchdowns, including this perfect read the progression throw only Oscar Delp could catch, which proved to be the wining touchdown.

Is Georgia and Alabama playing for another SEC championship boring? Only if you don’t love great football. Or maybe you don’t subscribe to the theory that to be the best, you have to beat the best. As for “The List,” another dogfight between the two best programs in the SEC seems like a good way to spend the first Saturday in December.

Finally, a much earned laurel to Lane Kiffin. Joey Freshwater won a game Saturday that he usually finds a way to lose. Kiffin’s offensive acumen and penchant for the one=liner aside, the knock on him as a head coach is that he is good, but never quite championship good. Thanks to an almost flawless Jaxson Dart and a hammer in Quinshon Judkins, Kiffin kept Ole Miss in the College Football Playoff conversation with a 38-35 win over Texas A&M in Oxford.

He got the final laugh over Jimbo Fisher, whose constant barbs at Kiffin’s social media persona included comments that Kiffin didn’t win enough. I guess Kiffin wins enough to beat Jimbo.

Let’s do “The List.” Honorable Mentions first, as always, limited to 2 per school.

Honorable Mention: Alabama: S Caleb Downs, CB Terrion Arnold; Arkansas: QB KJ Jefferson, K Cam Little; Auburn: DB Jaylin Simpson, LB Eugene Asante; Florida: QB Graham Mertz, RB Trevor Etienne; Georgia: S Tykee Smith, CB Kamari Lassiter; Kentucky: LB D’Eryk Jackson, DB Maxwell Hairston; LSU: LB Harold Perkins Jr., WR Brian Thomas Jr.; Missouri: C Connor Tollison; RB Cody Schrader MSU: LB Jett Johnson, LB Nathaniel Watson; Ole Miss: QB Jaxson Dart, WR Tre Harris; South Carolina: QB Spencer Rattler, WR Xavier Legette; Tennessee: DE Tyler Baron, edge James Pearce Jr.; Texas A&M: WR Ainias Smith, DB Josh DeBerry; Vanderbilt: LB Langston Patterson, OL Bradley Ashmore.

10. Quinshon Judkins, RB (Ole Miss)

Judkins scored 3 touchdowns in the Rebels’ big win over Texas A&M, pushing his season total to a SEC-leading 12 touchdowns.

He also leads the SEC in yards after contact, while ranking 4th in the SEC in rushing yards overall. Slowed by a nagging injury early in the season, Judkins now has 3 consecutive games with over 100 yards rushing and he’s scored 6 touchdowns in that span.

9. Jaylen Wright, RB (Tennessee)

Wright feasted for 113 yards and 1 touchdown at a staggering 14 yard-per-carry clip in Tennessee’s 59-3 rout of Connecticut. On the campaign, Wright ranks 3rd in the SEC in rushing yards with 826, a number that’s all the more impressive given he only has 110 carries, which is 38 fewer than any of the other running backs in the top 4 of the league standings.

8. Dallas Turner, LB (Alabama)

The Crimson Tide defender was having a quiet night, relatively speaking, when he made the most talked about hit of the college football season.

Whether it was a clean hit or not a clean hit, it changed the football game. Daniels exited, LSU didn’t score again, and the Crimson Tide captured a signature win that put them back on the path to the College Football Playoff. On the season, Turner ranks 2nd nationally in quarterback pressures and is tied for 2nd in the SEC in sacks (7).

7. Luther Burden III, WR (Missouri)

Burden III was mostly held in check by Georgia’s secondary on Saturday in Athens, though he did break free and score on this beautiful throw and catch from Brady Cook.

Burden III gets another shot at a big stage– and a quality defense– this weekend when Missouri hosts Tennessee.

6. Jalen Milroe, QB (Alabama)

What. A. Game. The SEC Player of the Week set a school record with 4 rushing touchdowns by a quarterback, continuing the rampage he’s been on since reclaiming the starting spot after the South Florida game. It isn’t just the Tebow-esque penchant for taking on tacklers or consistently making the right cut as a runner. It’s the decision-making — Milroe now has 7 touchdown passes against just 2 interceptions, averaging 10 yards per attempt, since reclaiming the starting job. He’s become a bona fide weapon at a position that was a problem for the Crimson Tide in September. That’s special — and a testament to his coaches and his work ethic.

5. Edgerrin Cooper, LB (Texas A&M)

Cooper had a sack and tackle for loss in the Aggies’ 38-35 loss at Ole Miss. Cooper ranks top 5 in the country in quarterback pressures and tackles for loss (16) and he leads a defense that ranks 15th nationally in total defense, 17th in success rate defense and 2nd in the SEC in quarterback pressures and havoc rate.

4. Javon Foster, OT (Missouri)

Missouri’s offensive line might not be a semifinalist for the Joe Moore Award, honoring the best offensive line in the country, but they played like the nation’s best unit on Saturday at Georgia.

“An absolute privilege to play a group that physical and technique-driven up front,” Kirby Smart said after the game. Smart’s correct, and it starts with Foster, who grades out as the SEC’s best tackle, per PFF. Foster had 3 pancakes and helped Mizzou rush for 151 yards Saturday. More impressive, they limited Georgia to just 6 quarterback pressures, a season low.

3. Malik Nabers, WR (LSU)

Nabers was magnificent in defeat at Alabama, hauling in 10 passes for 171 yards and a touchdown.

Nabers beat press coverages, double coverages, single high safety coverages — you name it — on his way to a monster game. After the game, Alabama’s Kool Aid McKinstry and Jalen Milroe each singled him out for a handshake and praise — the ultimate sign of respect for the SEC’s best receiver.

2. Carson Beck, QB (Georgia)

A huge move for Beck, who continues to get better every week. Whether it was the inch perfect strike to Delp for 6 or the way Beck seems to be completely unflappable under pressure, the Georgia offense keeps on ticking at a high rate, even without the nation’s best player, Brock Bowers. Beck’s season numbers (301 yards per game with 16 TDs, 4 INTs) are now ahead of 2-time national championship winning Stetson Bennett IV’s pace, which gives you insight into just how mind-boggling good Beck has been this season. Did we mention he’s a first year starter?

1. Jayden Daniels, QB (LSU)

I want to focus less on the Dallas Turner hit and more on what Daniels did in the opening half to give LSU a chance to win on a night his defense didn’t seem interested in tackling or stopping Alabama.

It was a wonderful performance, and Daniels, now the top-ranked quarterback in the country, per PFF, should remain in the Heisman Trophy race, even if he doesn’t play Saturday night against rival Florida at home.
