Terry Bowden’s apparent last game as Akron’s coach came on a rainy afternoon in Williams-Brice Stadium.

The former Auburn coach led the Zips to a 4-8 record this season, but fell to South Carolina on Saturday, 28-3, in a game that was a hurricane makeup for both teams. He’s reportedly out, according to multiple reports, including one from Brett McMurphy.

Bowden took over in 2012, and went 1-11 in his first season, but finished 35-52 at Akron. His best season came in 2015 when the Zips were 8-5 and made the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl. They also made the Boca Raton Bowl last year, and finished with a 7-7 record. The Zips’ best win this season came against then-No. 21 Northwestern, 39-34.

Bowden led Auburn to an 11-0 record in 1993, and the Tigers were also 9-1-1 in 1994.

He is 82-69-1 as a college coach overall.
