Alabama intern Butch Jones is on the move.

The former Tennessee head coach is taking the associate head coach and tight ends coach position at Maryland, per 247Sports.com. The Terrapins recently hired Alabama OC Mike Locksley as its head coach.

Reports surfaced Monday that Jones was a candidate for the role at Maryland, but things have progressed. Per the report, Jones accepted the position around midnight.

Prior to arriving at Alabama under Nick Saban, Jones had served as the head coach at Central Michigan (2007-2009), Cincinnati (2010-2012) and Tennessee (2013-2017). In 11 seasons as a head coach, he’s compiled a 84-54 record and guided his teams to eight bowl appearances.

Jones has plenty of experience coaching at the college level, but this will be his first stop with a B1G program.
