A bunch of Bowling Green players have recently been disciplined, and there could now be suspensions on the way.

According to Jordan Strack of WTOL 11, there are as many as 16 Falcons players who failed a drug test, some of whom are now facing suspensions. The school did not confirm names or the reason for the discipline to Strack.

Bowling Green issued the following statement, per Strack:

“Standards and expectations for continued participation in the BGSU Football program are high. Coach [Scot] Loeffler is holding players accountable to those standards and expectations.”

If Bowling Green is without some key players moving forward, its tough season may continue. The Falcons have opened the year with three straight losses, falling to Toledo, Kent State and Buffalo the past three weeks.

Because the MAC started the 2020 season late, there are only three games remaining on Bowling Green’s schedule — Saturday at Ohio, Dec. 5 at Akron and Dec. 12 vs. Miami (Ohio). It’s unclear how much time these disciplined players could miss, but when the season is so short, each game carries greater value.
