Report: Conference USA still planning to play football this fall, even without 1 member school
Monday night seems to be a night when the Group of 5 conferences are making decisions on whether or not to play fall sports this year, including football.
The Mountain West canceled fall sports on Monday after the MAC canceled on Saturday. Also on Monday, it was reported that the Sun Belt would still try to play.
Now, it appears Conference USA has made a decision. Per Stadium’s Brett McMurphy, who has broken most of this Group of 5 news, the conference is planning to play, even though Old Dominion canceled its fall seasons already:
Conference USA schools still planning to play football this fall, even w/league member ODU canceling fall season, sources told @Stadium. C-USA ADs met today & are “holding firm on playing in fall,” source said

That would leave the conference with 13 teams — 6 in the East and 7 in the West. That’s certainly still enough to play a season.
How will thanks shake out moving forward? We’ll find out as we move toward September.
