For weeks, rumors have been swirling around the status of Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin.

Kiffin is still employed by Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide brass. In fact, there’s been no public acknowledgement that Kiffin will leave. However, many are operating under the assumption that it’s a foregone conclusion at this point.

Kiffin has been associated with two recently-filled head coaching positions (Oregon, Houston). Two other jobs — Cincinnati, Western Kentucky — are reportedly not of interest to the former USC head coach.

With that said, there appears to be two strong options remaining. The Advocate reported Kiffin’s best bets include the LSU offensive coordinator position and the USF head coaching job.

It’s no secret LSU would love to land Kiffin. For one, it’d be taking him away from their fiercest rival. Secondly, new head coach Ed Orgeron has a long-standing relationship with Kiffin dating back to their days in Los Angeles.

The Tigers plan on running an evolved, high-octane offensive scheme — something Kiffin has demonstrated in Tuscaloosa.

It isn’t known whether Kiffin will remain with Alabama for the College Football Playoff, should he land another job.
