In a long-anticipated move, the Nebraska Cornhuskers reportedly decided to fire coach Mike Riley on Saturday morning, one day after the Huskers lost to Iowa.

The blowout 56-14 loss to the Hawkeyes ended the Huskers’ season with a disappointing 4-8 record.

Therefore, the time was now for Nebraska and new AD Bill Moos to make a move and let Riley go so they can get in the market for a new head coach:

With news breaking on Saturday morning that Chip Kelly was going to UCLA, the Florida Gators are now expected to heavily pursue UCF coach Scott Frost.

However, Frost is a Nebraska alum, so with an opening at his alma mater, it’ll be interesting to see what Frost decides to do in the coming weeks.

Both schools are sure to make him lucrative offers, but he is deeply tied to Nebraska and that opportunity may be too hard for him to pass up.
