Report: Projected first-round pick diagnosed with heart condition at NFL Combine
Michigan DT Maurice Hurst was projected by many as a first-round pick in the upcoming 2018 NFL Draft, but that status may be in jeopardy.
According to reports out of Indianapolis on Saturday, Hurst has a heart condition that may put his NFL future at risk.
As you can see in the tweet below from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Hurst will not participate in drills at the combine and will undergo additional testing:
Michigan DT Maurice Hurst, projected as a potential first-round pick, was diagnosed today with a heart condition, league sources told ESPN. Hurst will not go through combine drills and will undergo further testing this week.

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Hurst’s condition has been compared to the one that ended former Auburn star Nick Fairley’s NFL career:

Obviously, the important thing here is that Hurst gets his medical condition taken care of, but hopefully he makes a full recovery and can return to the field sometime in the future.
