The biggest name in the 2023 recruiting class has been named the top quarterback. Arch Manning, grandson of Archie Manning and nephew of Peyton and Eli, has been named 247Sports’ No. 5 overall player in the class of 2023.

Cooper Manning’s son has a high 4-star rating with a grade of 95 in 247Sports’ initial Top 100 for the class of 2023. Unsurprisingly, Ole Miss and Tennessee have both extended scholarship offers to Manning. Alabama and LSU are among 8 total programs to have already extended an offer to the young QB out of Isidore Newman in New Orleans. In June, a Lousiana reporter named Clemson and Oklahoma as teams to watch in Manning’s recruitment.

Manning’s head coach predicts the family will take his college recruitment slowly.

“The biggest thing now is that he’s started to listen, is getting to know the coaches and taking it slow,” Nelson Stewart told 247Sports. “I think it’s going to be something [Cooper] said, ‘closer to a 1970s recruitment’ where it’s really all about relationships, learning not just about the program but the coaches and taking the glitter off things and getting to know the people. …”

Many college football fans first heard of Arch when highlights from Isidore Newman’s 2019 spring game were shared online. At the time, Manning was listed at just 5-11, 155 pounds. As teenagers do, Arch has grown. He’s now listed at 6-3, 195 pounds, ahead of his sophomore year of high school.

As a freshman, Arch threw for 2,438 yards and 34 touchdowns playing for the school’s varsity team, leading them to a 9-win season.
