There has been some criticism of Florida quarterback Feleipe Franks since the Gators’ season-opening win over Miami. Although the Gators earned the victory, some were not impressed by the play of Franks, who is a redshirt junior.

However, not everybody has been negative toward Franks this week.

On Thursday, SEC Network analyst Jordan Rodgers took to Twitter to compare the stats of two unknown conference quarterbacks in games against top 30 defenses in 2018. The quarterbacks ended up being Franks and LSU’s Joe Burrow, and it turned out Franks had the better numbers in those situations.

While Franks threw five touchdown passes against top 30 defenses, Burrow had none. Here are the full stats, courtesy of Rodgers:

While Rodgers made it known that he thinks fans have an “inflated impression” of Burrow, he also stated that he thinks the quarterback should improve in his second year in the Tigers’ offense.

Although Franks may not have looked as sharp in Florida’s season opener as he did at times last season, he still passed for 254 yards and two touchdowns while leading the Gators to victory.

Burrow will make his season debut when LSU opens against Georgia Southern at home on Saturday.
