There is a popular matchup this week in the SEC that has drawn plenty of interest as an “upset alert” type pick for TV analysts and college football insiders.

SEC Network analyst Matt Stinchcomb has jumped on the bandwagon for a Kentucky upset at Auburn. And to a lesser degree, SEC Network analyst Roman Harper said Mike Leach’s Mississippi State team will roll into Baton Rouge and steal a victory.

“Kentucky and the momentum they’ve been able to develop, year over year,” Stinchcomb said, “and the fact that they return so much of their team intact. They overachieved defensively a season ago, they get Terry Wilson back this year, he’s thought to be much improved at quarterback, and they’ve certainly developed an identity around that run game.”

Harper agreed with Stinchcomb’s pick. But he explained his own.

“LSU, they lost a lot on defense, they have a new defensive coordinator, we don’t know exactly what Mississippi State is bringing back, I think Kylin Hill has got to get 30 touches or more for Mississippi State. K.J. Costello’s a quarterback who has played in a lot of big games. He’s been able to do a lot of great things. Mississippi State, this could be their time, Mike Leach, the weird scientist who he is, I like it.”
