The SEC was all across the board when it came to penalties during Week 12. Amounts per game ranged anywhere from one to 13. Some teams won in spite of their penalties, while for others they became a serious hinderance.

Multiple teams also flipped their usual relationship with penalties this week. Alabama, for example, incurred only two penalties in their 56-6 rout of Charleston Southern. The Tide have been one of the most penalized teams in the conference up until this week, averaging 6.7 yards a game.

Conversely, Auburn was one of the least-penalized teams, averaging four a game. But the Tigers racked up 11 in their matchup against Idaho.

LSU was victimized the most, drawing 13 penalties in its demoralizing 38-17 loss to Ole Miss. LSU, once No. 2 in the country after winning its first seven games, has now lost three games in a row and are the most penalized team in the conference.
