It’s officially August, and college football will be played this month.

Where did the off-season go?

This week, every SEC team opens fall camp. In fact, Texas A&M’s kicks off Wednesday.

ESPN dropped its preseason power rankings Wednesday, and five SEC teams were ranked in the top 25. All off-season, the talk about whether Alabama or Clemson should be ranked No. 1 has ensued, and in this specific power rankings, the Tide take the top spot even with a mild QB controversy. Georgia (No. 4) and Auburn (No. 10) are both ranked inside the top 10.

Impressively, Mississippi State (No. 17) is ranked in the top 20, and new head coach Joe Moorhead certainly takes over a talented and experienced team, including a veteran leader in QB Nick Fitzgerald. South Carolina (No. 25) rounds out the top 25.
