The SEC is so much fun to watch. Seriously, where else can you get so much drama on a weekly basis?

Alabama, the No. 1 team in the country, almost lost at home against an unranked Texas A&M squad. Mizzou suffered another dramatic one-score loss. Mississippi State QB Will Rogers set an SEC record. Arkansas LB Bumper Pool set a school record.

Tennessee earned a thrilling blowout win at LSU. South Carolina took down a shorthanded Kentucky squad.

Nothing is predictable in the SEC, which frankly makes my job very difficult! But, power rankings must come out on Sundays! So, here are our updated 1-14 rankings of every SEC squad:

14. Vanderbilt (3-3 overall, 0-2 in SEC)

Previous ranking: 14
This week: 52-28 L to No. 9 Ole Miss

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Vanderbilt is going to be in the No. 14 spot until it proves it can actually compete against an SEC team. Yes, taking a 20-17 lead into halftime against the undefeated Rebels was nice. But, then, the Commodores got outscored 35-8 in the second half. This team just isn’t an SEC-level team yet.

13. Mizzou (2-4, 0-3)

Previous ranking: 12
This week: 24-17 L to Florida

Brady Cook went 22-for-30 passing for 220 yards. The problem was 2 ridiculously bad interceptions. One, in the first quarter, was returned for a touchdown on one of the easiest pick-6s you’ll ever see. Those kinds of mistakes are killers. Obviously, that score proved to be the difference in the game. Mizzou also shoots itself in the foot far too often after big plays. Every time the Tigers get a first down, they seem to put themselves in 2nd-and-12 and then 3rd-and-15+ situations. Eli Drinkwitz needs to figure out his offense or hire an offensive coordinator to help out.

12. Auburn (3-3, 1-2)

Previous ranking: 13
This week: 42-10 L to No. 2 Georgia

Have we seen the last of Bryan Harsin as Auburn’s coach? We’ll see what Sunday holds, but by all accounts, Harsin is on thin ice on The Plains. The Auburn offense couldn’t do anything against Georgia on Saturday afternoon. Tank Bigsby has gone from one of the best running backs in the SEC to one of the most mediocre. Robby Ashford can’t move the ball down the field with his arm. Things are ugly at Auburn right now.

11. Texas A&M (3-3, 1-2)

Previous ranking: 10
This week: 24-20 L to No. 1 Alabama

This offense is bad. So bad. What was Jimbo Fisher thinking with that final play call? Why run a quick out when you have no room and don’t have a reliable quarterback in the game? It was baffling. Texas A&M’s defense played well enough to win that game. The offense is a disaster. It’s fair to question whether Jimbo Fisher should be forced to hire an offensive coordinator this offseason or not.

10. South Carolina (4-2, 1-2)

Previous ranking: 11
This week: 24-14 W over No. 13 Kentucky

Spencer Rattler still struggled, but this was an absolutely huge win for the Gamecocks. Credit to Shane Beamer’s crew for going into a tough road environment and making enough plays to win. Beamer’s special teams units came to play in a big way. The defense was electric against a Kentucky offense missing star QB Will Levis. And, the offense did just enough to lead the team to a victory.

9. LSU (4-2, 2-1)

Previous ranking: 8
This week: 40-13 L to No. 8 Tennessee

The Tigers got schooled in every single facet of the game. This was a coaching clinic put on by Tennessee’s Josh Heupel and his staff. Brian Kelly admitted as much after the game, saying the Tigers’ staff needed to coach better. That was a massive understatement. There’s still plenty of talent on this LSU roster, though. We’ll see if the Tigers can regroup or if this loss sets them down a disappointing path.

8. Arkansas (3-3, 1-3)

Previous ranking: 6
This week: 40-17 L to No. 23 Mississippi State

The Hogs were without KJ Jefferson in this game, but losing 3 in a row to fall to 1-3 in SEC action hurts. The defense is a problem against talented passers, and there are several talented passers coming up on Arkansas’s schedule. Even if Jefferson was playing on Saturday, I don’t think the Hogs would have finished within a score of the Bulldogs. We’ll see if Sam Pittman can get his crew back on track ahead of a tricky road trip to BYU next weekend.

7. Kentucky (4-2, 1-2)

Previous ranking: 7
This week: 24-14 L to South Carolina

I’m not going to punish the Wildcats for not having star QB Will Levis in this game. It’s probably safe to say things would have been much different if he played. But, after 2 straight losses, the shine is coming off this Kentucky team, for sure. The Wildcats host a really tough Mississippi State squad next weekend. They can’t afford a third-straight defeat.

6. Florida (4-2, 1-2)

Previous ranking: 9
This week: 24-17 W over Mizzou

Surprised to see the Gators at No. 6? So am I. But, who else deserves the spot? The Gators have a couple of really nice wins. When Anthony Richardson is on his game, he’s electric. The defense has been solid. Is this team going to stay at No. 6 for long? I don’t know. But, for now, the Gators are playing well and first-year coach Billy Napier is having a major impact on this program.

5. Mississippi State (5-1, 2-1)

Previous ranking: 5
This week: 40-17 W over Arkansas

Will Rogers became the SEC’s all-time leader in completed passes, and he did it in only 28 career games. That’s incredible. Yes, he benefits from running Mike Leach’s pass-heavy Air Raid system, but he also runs it better than anyone else on the planet. Mississippi State is a scary team, and there is some incredible football being played in the Magnolia State right now. Speaking of…

4. Ole Miss (6-0, 2-0)

Previous ranking: 4
This week: 52-28 W over Vanderbilt

Yes, things started out a bit rough for the Rebels, but winning on the road in SEC play isn’t easy, even at Vanderbilt. The Commodores have some punch this year. Kudos to Lane Kiffin’s squad for staying calm and pulling away late. Ole Miss can attack you in all aspects of the game. The defense is solid, the running game is elite and the passing attack can make big plays when it needs to. Ole Miss is bowl-eligible and showing no signs of slowing down any time soon.

3. Alabama (6-0, 3-0)

Previous ranking: 2
This week: 24-20 W over Texas A&M

No, the Crimson Tide didn’t have star QB Bryce Young on Saturday night against the Aggies. But, it was still a lackluster effort by the Alabama offense. There were too many mistakes, penalties, fumbles and blown assignments. Will Reichard had a couple of costly field goal misses, too. There’s a lot this team needs to improve upon, but it can certainly get back into the top 2 next week with a win over Tennessee. Speaking of the Vols…

2. Tennessee (5-0, 2-0)

Previous ranking: 3
This week: 40-13 W over No. 25 LSU

Yes, I moved the Vols up to No. 2 this week. They deserve it. Hendon Hooker should be the Heisman frontrunner this week and Alabama didn’t look great without Bryce Young leading the offense. Even without Cedric Tillman at receiver, Hooker and the offense didn’t miss a beat in a tough road environment at LSU. Rocky Top will be rocking next weekend when Alabama comes to town. We’ll see if the Vols can keep their dream season going.

1. Georgia (6-0, 3-0)

Previous ranking: 1
This week: 42-10 W over Auburn

That was the get-right game many expected to see from Georgia last week at Mizzou. The Bulldogs dominated in every facet of the game. Stetson Bennett looked like his early season self, Daijun Edwards and Branson Robinson were beasts in the running game. Auburn’s offense couldn’t do anything against Georgia’s defense. This is the top team in the SEC when it plays like it did on Saturday afternoon.
