Wednesday was another banner day for the SEC off the field as the nation’s strongest football conference got even better thanks to a wealth of elite talent being added to the league during the first day of the early signing period.

How good of a day was it for the conference?

When you look at just five-star prospects that signed on Wednesday, no other conference can match the SEC when it comes to signing elite talent. In fact, if you combine the rest of the nation, the SEC still signed a larger number than all over programs combined.

The SEC inked 16 five-stars, the rest of the nation only landed 13 — based on 247Sports Composite Rankings player rankings.

We should note that five five-star prospects remain unsigned at this time, however, many of those prospects are likely to end up signing with SEC programs by the time the traditional National Signing Day rolls around in February.
