Social media reacts to SEC’s early struggles against Big Ten New Year’s bowl opponents
By SDS Staff
Published:
The New Year’s Day bowl slate kicked off with two SEC-Big Ten battles in the Citrus Bowl (Alabama vs. Michigan) and Outback Bowl (Auburn vs. Minnesota). Both SEC teams were favored by at least 7 points (depending on your preferred sportsbook). The B1G underdogs, however, are both leading at the halftime break.
Minnesota is up 24-17 on Auburn while Michigan leads Alabama 16-14.
Big Ten fans and SEC haters are loving it on social media:
Just so everyone understands the rules – If Alabama wins, it’s because Bama and the SEC are superior and Michigan sucks. If Michigan wins, it’s because Alabama didn’t have Tua and does not care at all about a non-CFP bowl game. Proceed as you were.

If the big ten loses to the sec it is cuz the big ten sucks. If the big ten wins it is cuz the sec doesn’t care unless it is a playoff game!! Let’s be realistic it doesn’t matter if the big ten wins cuz the sec isn’t trying!! Especially bama

lmao both SEC teams will end up winning. Hope you are recovered from that clemson loss. Big Ten has done amazing in the playoff since ‘14.

For all the endless back and forth between the SEC and Big Ten, from fans to coaches to media, I wish we saw more regular season non-conference games between them. Not neutral site. Home and home.
