Another school is set to part ways with its head coach as the offseason is upon us.

Louisiana-Monroe has reportedly decided to fire coach Matt Viator, Aaron Dietrich, KNOE8 Sports Director reported. The Warhawks are 0-10 this season and 19-39 overall under Viator. Their best season was in 2018 when they went 6-6.

This was Viator’s fifth season with ULM, and his records are 4-8, 4-8, 6-6, 5-7 and 0-10.

Viator came from McNeese State where he had a winning record.

Last week, Viator said the team has struggled.

“In terms of our progression, I think in terms of the injuries weโ€™ve had and the kids that have opted out, I think we havenโ€™t really had consistency in terms of getting better each week,” Viator said, per USA Today.

Deficits have been a way of life for the team all season.

“I mean, you look up and weโ€™re at least 14 down early in the game,” Viator said. “And then we battle back.”

ULM came within a one-point loss to Louisiana-Lafayette in last year’s finale of reaching bowl eligibility in back-to-back years for just the second time since transitioning into the FBS in 1994. Before he was hired in 2015, Viator went 78-33 at McNeese State with four appearances in the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs.
