UNC head coach Larry Fedora said the dumbest things at ACC Media Days
North Carolina head coach Larry Fedora turned some heads at ACC Media Days on Wednesday with a couple of hot takes centering around the game of football.
Fedora doesn’t believe that just the game of football is under attack, but that the country in general is as well.
Check out this odd comment from the North Carolina coach:
Larry Fedora: “Our game is under attack … I fear that the game will be pushed so far from what we know that we won’t recognize it 10 years from now. And if it does, our country will go down, too.”

He didn’t stop there, throwing out maybe the hottest take from any conference’s media days:
Larry Fedora: “I don’t think it’s been proven that the game of football causes CTE. We don’t really know that. Are there chances for concussions? Of course. There are collisions. But the game is safer than it’s ever been.”

You can be a fan of the game of football and still adhere to the findings science provides, but Fedora apparently doesn’t think so.
He was even given a chance to clarify his comments, but decided to double down instead:
Fedora has doubled down on the decline of football impacting the state of the United States: “I think it would be the decline of our country, yes.”

The only thing missing from this bizarre media appearance was the question of how Fedora thinks the NCAA ranks in terms of America’s greatest enemies.
Larry Fedora’s media session is over. He repeatedly doubled down on his claims about the decline of football/decline of America and added later that he doesn’t believe CTE has been proven to be linked to football. That was a surreal Q&A session.
