When Lane Kiffin became the Tennessee head coach for the 2009 season, his father Monte Kiffin left the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to join his son on Rocky Top. The Tampa 2 guru then followed his son to USC. Now, after a return to the NFL, Monte is back on his son’s coaching staff as a defensive assistant at FAU.

Down at Florida Atlantic, it’s Glenn Spencer who handles the defensive coordinator duties, not Monte. On Friday, Spencer tweeted a fun video of FAU players teaching Monte a few new dance moves. Lane shared the video on Twitter, adding that it’s what he saw as he walked in for an Owls team meeting.

“When u walk into team meeting and the players are teaching ur 79 yr old dad A new song and they like him more than the head coach :man-facepalming::joy::microphone::heart::fire:,” Lane wrote before tagging accounts related to some of Monte’s many stops in his multi-decade coaching career, including Tennessee and Arkansas (1977-79).

The 79-year-old Monte looks ready to hit the dancefloor at the Boca Raton nightclubs. If FAU manages to upset Ohio State on Aug. 31, it’s safe to assume both Kiffin men will be dancing.
