Welcome Home, Shane Beamer: South Carolina rolling back ticket prices to match 2010 season
Now this is smart marketing.
South Carolina has come up with a fantastic way to welcome Shane Beamer back to Columbia and, at the same time, help pack Williams-Brice Stadium heading into the 2021 season.
It’s called the “Welcome Home” campaign and its purpose is to roll back season ticket prices to match the prices Gamecock fans paid in 2010. That also happens to be the final season Beamer served as an assistant coach for South Carolina under Steve Spurrier.
According to South Carolina AD Ray Tanner, the school is optimistic that Williams-Brice Stadium can return to full capacity this fall, which may be the best news of the day in Columbia.
“If we continue to stay diligent, hopefully we can have football this fall, fill up the stadium, and enjoy all the game day traditions we are accustomed to having,” Tanner said. “Our team has worked hard to come up with ticket pricing plans that will try and get you back. There is nothing like gameday at Williams-Brice – Gamecock Walk, 2001, Sandstorm, cheering on the Gamecocks. I hope to see you on these special Saturdays in the fall.”

Here is the official release from South Carolina explaining the “Welcome Home” plan for the 2021 season:
Today we are launching the “Welcome Home” campaign to get Williams-Brice back to the raucous homefield advantage we have been used to. For those that could use a little relief in these challenging times, now through June 25th we are rolling back season ticket pricing to 2010 – the last time Coach Beamer walked these sidelines. Due to the ongoing financial challenges, donors have the option of turning the discounted amount into a donation to benefit the Covid Resilience Fund.
We are also pushing back the football renewal deadline and Gamecock Club renewal deadline to have clarity on the pandemic before making your decisions.
Forever To Thee
1. Throwback Pricing: Through June 25th, football season ticket prices will drop $95 per seat for a new base price of $320. All faculty-staff, Young Alumni, and Parent’s pricing will be adjusted proportionally.
2. Extended Gamecock Club Deadline: The renewal period for the Gamecock Club annual membership has been extended through the end of March.
3. Extended Football Ticket and Parking Deadline: The football ticket and parking renewal deadline has been pushed from the traditional early May deadline to May 21st.
And this is why people get paid to do marketing. I’m sure they’re adjusting for lower demand and in the meantime spinning it so they look like the good guys.
It’s not even worth 50% off. Maybe 80% off with some free popcorn and Cokes.
You’ve obviously never been to a game in Columbia. Great atmosphere and welcoming fans, no matter the record that year.
Makes me wonder if you’ve been to any SEC games as I think what I’ve said about Columbia is true of the other conference venues I’ve visited, always worth the admission.
Yeah, I guess if the dawgs fell on hard times you wouldn’t be supporting the young men who are giving their all! We had large crowds even during the 21 game losing streak. Your opinion on anything concerning the Gamecocks is about as useless mine about the value of a dawg ticket! Except my opinion would be an intelligent one!
Smart marketing to call slashing ticket prices a celebration of the new HC instead of admitting it’s a move of desperation after Will Muschamp caused attendance to plummet to almost record lows.
Regardless I still don’t expect to see a full stadium at any point this fall. Maybe after COVID and IF Beamer can start winning fans will start to show up.
We have stale info…5 days old. Not much to mention about SC athletics but our women’s basketball. We are the university of the lesser sex. At least we have that going for us.
They should roll it back to when the last time the chickens were relevant, but I suppose $3 tickets don’t really help the bottom line. It wow, the 60’s was a great decade.
Cocks have been relevant far more recently than USMA….
Good lord – change your name – you can be sued for FALSE REPRESENTATION – “brilliance” is NOT your game!!

Only…Ever heard of a running back named George Rogers-A Heisman Trophy winner…Yes he played at SC=Relevance. Ever heard of a Head Ball Coach named Steve Spurrier-three consecutive seasons with records of
11 wins/2 losses, nationally ranked =Relevance. You need to check out the Cock’s football history prior to hitting the keyboard…your fingers are way ahead of your brain troll.
