Will Muschamp deserves a ton of credit for all the work he’s managed to accomplish in a short period of time in Columbia but his best work appears ahead of him as he continues to make one great move after another while leading the South Carolina program.
The latest stroke of genius comes with the hiring of former All-SEC running back Marcus Lattimore. The all-time great Gamecock will be taking a role off the field as director of player development after coaching at the high school level at Heathwood Hall for two seasons.
Lattimore recently sent out a tweet expressing his feelings soon after landing the position. It’s pretty clear he has a special place in his heart for the Gamecocks:
I am so blessed to a part of the @GamecockFB organization. I empathize with those guys in that locker room because I lived it. Football is their platform, not their purpose. I will be assisting in their preparation for life. #BeyondFootball #SpursUp
