Kevin Harris led all SEC running backs in 2020 in average yards per game at 113.8. Harris will enter 2021 fall camp recovering from a procedure on his back, South Carolina coach Shane Beamer told reporters Thursday.
Beamer described it as a minor procedure. He told reporters that Harris is not yet cleared to practice and won’t take the field on Friday. The good news is that Beamer fully expects Harris to be good to go for Game 1 next month.
As a sophomore, Harris appeared in all 10 games for the Gamecocks last season. Harris carried the ball 185 times, averaging an impressive 6.15 yards per carry to total 1,138 yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground.
South Carolina opens the 2021 season against Eastern Illinois on Sept. 4. Hopefully, we’ll see Harris in action that night.
Kevin Harris had a small procedure done on his back. He won’t practice tomorrow.
Won’t be long before he’s on the field.
