Will Muschamp is going to have a great Father’s Day.

Not only does Muschamp have an awesome family to celebrate, but he just landed a verbal commitment from the nation’s no. 10 dual-threat QB in Dakereon Joyner (North Charleston, SC). Joyner committed to the Gamecocks over N.C State during a ceremony at his high school Sunday.

Joyner was the Gatorade Player of the Year for the state in 2016.

Landing elite QBs hasn’t been that big of an issue for Will Muschamp and Kurt Roper, and now they not only have rising star Jake Bentley ready to shine this season, they now have a commitment from one of the nation’s elites, who will be waiting in the wings.

Of course, National Signing Day is a ways away, but having Joyner in the fold ahead of the season gives Muschamp and his staff a key piece to build around for the recruiting class.

Joyner is rated as a 4-star prospect, the nation’s no. 227 overall player and the state of South Carolina’s No. 4 prospect. He became the Gamecocks’ ninth commitment for the class of 2018.

When South Carolina was dominating under Steve Spurrier, the Gamecocks recruited the state better than Clemson. In-state players like Stephon Gilmore, Marcus Lattimore and Jadeveon Clowney, among others, helped build and establish the Gamecocks’ program. Muschamp knows that, and adding Joyner to the fold could be a big piece to that puzzle in the future.

Here are Joyner’s junior highlights, and it’s easy to see why he’s such a coveted prospect.
